Donald Ray Huggins

Donald Ray “Don” Huggins 88 of Nacogdoches, Texas entered into Heaven on January 20th. 2026. Don was born August 12th 1937 in El Dorado, Arkansas to parents Marion Raymond and Corean Dixon Huggins. Don graduated from Parkers Chapel HS. After high school he married his wife Edna and they went on to begin a life together. They moved with their young family to Alvin, Texas where he worked at Monsanto Chemical Company until he retired. After retirement he moved to Nacogdoches. When the Lord called Edna home Don married his second wife Nina. Don could often be found sitting in his recliner coaching the Houston Astros; a team that he had long loved. If not watching a ball game he would be around a domino table playing games such as 42 or Mexican Train. Going to see friends at the Senior Center to play dominos was something he would not often miss; he would try to schedule things around the playing hours. Not only a fierce competitor at the domino table he enjoyed building things with his hands. He built things such as picnic tables, chairs, and small toys for the grandkids which brought much joy to him. Don loved to travel and to spend time camping with those he loved the most. A true man of God Don was a faithful member of the Rock Springs Fellowship Church in the Central Heights community.

Don was predeceased by his parents; wife, Edna Huggins; son, Steve Huggins; Son-in-law, Mike Pace; and brother, Marion Raymond Huggins Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory include wife Nina Smith Huggins; daughter, Phyllis Pace; sons, Tracy Alan and wife Rebecca Huggins, and Matthew and wife Amy Huggins; step children, Nancy Wilson, Karen and Mike Butler, Wendall Smith, and Mark and Debra Smith; along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Services for Donald Ray Huggins is visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 23, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., with the service to follow at 10:30 a.m. at Cason Monk–Metcalf Funeral Directors.
