James C. Woodard slipped away into the hands of the Lord Saturday, March 6, 2010. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Connie & Donald Woodard. He is survived by his wife Doris Woodard. His Sister: Gail Prosser & Family of Marion Massachusetts and Carey, North Carolina. His two children: Son, Brad Woodard & Daughter in Law, Kristen Woodard of Nacogdoches Texas. Daughter: Leanne Woodard Harrigan of Flower Mound Texas. Grandchildren: Hayden & Ross Harrigan & Tread Woodard. He is also survived by our extended families: The Family of Julie Murphy of Fort Worth Texas, and The Family of Michael Haynes Laguna Niguel, California.
Jim attended the University of New Mexico and later graduated from The University of Wisconsin. He was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity.
He served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant, TC, USAR, 04 016 348. He received the National Defense Service Medal and fulfilled his service until September of 1962.
He went on to the private sector as a brilliant and talented Sales Executive for Nekooosa Edwards Paper Company. With his vast experience in the paper industry, he then transitioned into the Print Production Industry for both Hurst Printing and Jarvis Press in Dallas. Prior to retirement he consulted with various Advertising Agencies in the Dallas area.
His main personal interests were traveling and entertaining with his wife Doris and attending Dallas Cowboy Football games. He was an avid fan who held season tickets since the Cotton Bowl days.
Born an entertainer at heart, he possessed the kind of charm and charisma that naturally commanded an always enthusiastic gathering. He had a wonderful sense of humor and comedic sense of timing. His pleasure and innate ability was to entertain and amuse all those in his company.
He was a loving spouse to his wife Doris until dementia stole what was most precious to him as an individual…his mind.
Above all, we wish for his Memorial to be a celebration of a life lived to its fullest, with much happiness and contentment.
We grieve his loss, but are confident that he is now resting peacefully in the hands of the Lord.
We love you Dad, you have brought so much to each of our lives in so many ways. Thank you for being such a loving and supportive father.
“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away…” – Revelation 21:4
