

Mrs. Jimmie Estelle Hensley passed away in peace at her daughter’s home in Nacogdoches County, Texas on July 14, 2010, having reached the age of 94 years, 10 months and 14 days.
Born on a farm in Leon County, Texas on September 8, 1915, to Eunice Estelle and James Lee Simms, Mrs. Hensley moved to Houston, Texas at the age of 22. While supporting herself working as a nanny and housekeeper, she met Taft Emmett Hensley, whom she wed on October 19, 1940.
The new couple moved their young family to a new home in Galena Park, Texas in 1945, where Mrs. Hensley lived until 2005. A 60 year resident of Galena Park, Mrs. Hensley was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Galena Park and The Galena Park Order of The Eastern Stars. Mrs. Hensley loved her flower garden, her many friends, oil painting and playing 42 at the Galena Park Community Center.
Mrs. Hensley was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband of 49 years, Taft Emmett Hensley; her son Douglas Taft Hensley; four sisters and one brother.
Mrs. Hensley will be remembered fondly by her daughter, Jannie Estelle Stanaland and husband Forrest of Nacogdoches County, Texas, granddaughter Kari Deanne Groschke and husband Mark, grandson Andrew Forrest Stanaland and wife Andrea and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday July 15, 2010 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Howard-Glendale Funeral Home, 1015 Federal Road, Greens Bayou, Texas. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 16, 2010 at 2:00pm at the Dewville Cemetery located on FM 1117 north of the town of Nixon in Gonzalas County.
