JoAnn Wahl Sidnell

Born in Sidney, Ohio, JoAnn was the daughter of Cecil H. Quellhorst and Kathryn (Wahl) Quellhorst. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and dedicated her career to teaching as an elementary school educator in several different schools and communities.

Mrs. Sidnell had a deep love for all animals and especially enjoyed the companionship of horses, dogs, and cats throughout her life. She was known for her warm spirit, generous heart, and unwavering commitment to the children she taught and the animals she cared for.

She is survived by her children: Jennifer Ann Sidnell, Pamela Lynn Sidnell, and Christopher Robert Sidnell and his wife Karol Yvette. JoAnn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Robert G. Sidnell, as well as her parents.

A celebration of JoAnn’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home in Nacogdoches, Texas. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.

She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Nacogdoches.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy King, Gary Wurtz, James I. Perkins, EK Sowell, Kirk Goodfellow, and A.C. "Buddy" Himes. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Daniel and James I. Perkins, Jr.
