Joey Van Cooper Smith

Joey was a heavy equipment operator, welder, and welder's helper. He enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, playing golf and loved his children.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Buddy Smith and maternal grandparents, Ethy and Dee Tidwell; aunts and uncles Wayne Tidwell, Danna Eaton, Cherry-Ann Young, Patsy Teakell, and Robert Butters.

Survived by: mother, Karon Martin; father, Van Smith; step-mother Wonda Smith; girlfriend, Jessica McCann; children, Tristan Coil, Weston Smith, Rhylee Smith and McKenzie Smith; grandmother, Cecille Garner; sisters, Tonya Brock (Kent), Tera Hicks (Rocky), Kelly Currie (Lawrence), and Leslie Currie (Anthony); aunts and uncles Celeste Smith, Nikki Smith, Gail Butters, Janet and Wayne Beall, Gail and Richard Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation for Joey will be held Friday, October 14, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home, 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches. A funeral service will be Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 2:00pm at the funeral home.
