Joyce Faye Sanderson Lowery was born on March 28, 1940, in Nederland, Texas to parents Doug and Carmin Sanderson. She passed away peacefully on March 27, 2019, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Carmin died at an early age and Doug remarried Elma. Elma also preceded Joyce in death.
Joyce graduated from Nederland High School in 1958 and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1962 where she met and married the love of her life, Keith Lowery. Joyce and Keith were married June 30, 1962, and enjoyed 56 years of marriage. Joyce retired from Woden ISD after many years as a home economics teacher.
Mrs. Lowery was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Bryan Keith ("BK") Lowery.
She is survived by her husband, James Keith Lowery, Jr. of Etoile; son, Steve Lowery of Woden; daughter Kim Lee and husband Rusty of Woden; four grandchildren, Landon Lowery of Woden, Lauren Menefee and husband Jason of Etoile, Lainey Lee of Woden, and Logan Lee of Woden. She is also survived by a special nephew, Michael Lowery and wife Crystal and their children Cayden and Cameron Lowery, all of Etoile.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2019, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel officiated by Bro. Glen Morton. Interment will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery in Etoile.
Serving as pallbearers will be Landon Lowery, Logan Lee, Michael Lowery, Jason Menefee, Daron Lee, and Vernon LeBlue. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Mason, Mike King, Paul Driver, John Allen, Von Lowery, Chris Bean, and Artie Dixon.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Jean Chambers of Etoile for her caretaking of Joyce in her final year.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Bryan Keith Lowery Memorial Scholarship Fund through Woden ISD.
