

He was born March 3, 1935, in Weatherford, Texas, to parents Ray “Rab” Cogburn and Mary Lou Braselton Cogburn. Bob and Laura Brashear were married Jan. 25, 1958, in Idalou, Texas.
After graduation from Weatherford High School, he attended Texas A&M University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree with biology emphasis in 1958. He received a Masters of Science with emphasis in entomology in 1961.
Bob worked as an entomologist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Houston, Texas, Fresno, California, Savannah, Georgia, the campus of Texas A&M Research Station in China, Texas, near Beaumont. He retired from the Research Station in the early 1990s.
He enjoyed family activities as well as hunting, fishing, playing golf, and spending summers with family at Crystal Beach. Also, he enjoyed reading and working Sudoku and crossword puzzles.
After residing in Hamshire, Texas, for 39 years, the move to Nacogdoches, Texas, was made to be closer to family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Laura; children, Clayton Cogburn and wife Carolyn of Nacogdoches, Tracy Colletti of Kenner, Louisiana, Keith Cogburn and wife Tammi of Somerset, Texas, and Jennifer Seago and husband Warren of Spring, Texas; grandchildren, Christopher Cogburn of Nacogdoches, Justin Colletti of Kenner, Zechariah, Chena, and Josiph Cogburn of Somerset, and Dovie Seago of Spring; and his brother, Cody Cogburn and wife Linda of Ft. Worth, Texas.
A visitation will be held 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, 5400 North St in Nacogdoches.
Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Pastor Paul Sevar and Pastor Keith Cogburn officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
