Robert Kirk Owens

He was born on June 25, 1971, in Nacogdoches, Texas, to Robert and Jerrie Owens. He was a lifelong resident of Nacogdoches, Texas, and graduated from Nacogdoches High School and Stephen F. Austin State University. He married Jennifer Leigh Raines on July 17, 1999. They were joyfully married for 15 years. They had two sons, Payton Hunter Owens and Ashton Arthur Owens. Their children continue to bring them joy every day.

If you knew nothing else about Kirk Owens, you knew how much he adored his wife and children, and they him. They were his life and he purposely made his life revolve around them. Kirk knew and loved his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was an avid boxing fan, an enthusiastic soccer coach for his oldest son, Payton, and loved hunting and going deep sea fishing with his buddies. One of Kirk’s God-given gifts was his innate sense of humor and ability to make people laugh. Anyone who met Kirk walked away with a smile on their face. Kirk was instantly friends with everyone he met.

Kirk was a successful pharmaceutical representative, finishing #4 in the nation for his company last year. He was competitive, smart and clever. His doctors were not just his clients, they were also his friends.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Owens, Jr., of Nacogdoches, TX, his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Kuykendall, of Mason, TX, and a cousin, William Hunter Owens, of Midland, TX.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer of Nacogdoches, TX, their two sons, Payton and Ashton, of Nacogdoches, TX, his parents, Robert and Jerrie Owens, of Mason, TX, brother, Lee Owens and wife, Rainey, of Dallas, TX, parents-in-law Jack and Becky Raines, of Nacogdoches, TX, sister-in-law, Angela Jackson and husband Fred, of Dallas, TX, nephews, Jordan Pierce and Sam Jackson, niece, Ansley Owens, uncle, Greg Owens and his wife, Liz, cousin, Emily Owens, aunts, Robbie Alkek and Merle Cattan, uncle, Wayne Kuykendall and wife, Janine, and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers are Mike Burford, Bryan Davis, Jayson Dilworth, Todd Fry, Jed Hagood, Brent Rice, Toby Stanaland, Neal Sutton, Jon Weems, and David Yeagy. Honorary pallbearer is Courtney Allen.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, from noon until service time at Fredonia Hill Baptist Church, Nacogdoches, TX. Celebration of Life will begin at 2 p.m., following visitation, with Wayne Kuykendall officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, in Nacogdoches, TX.
