Born in Vincennes, Indiana, in March of 1942, Ron was a loving, caring family man who traveled throughout the United States and lived a full and rewarding life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fleeta Mae (Patton) McCausland, Sydney and Elsie Patton, all of Lawrenceville, Illinois.
Ron is survived in life by his wife of 46 years, Jan; children, Jeff and Sherry Patton of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Richard and Jennifer Maples of Bremen, Georgia, and Jammie Wakefield of Douglass, Texas; his sister, Sue Hoffman of Brazil, Indiana; and grandchildren, Tyler, Nicole, Cameron, and Jacob.
Ron was a 1960 graduate of Lawrenceville High School in Lawrenceville, Illinois and Southern Illinois University; and a member of Theta Xi Fraternity. During his 45 years with Aramark, Campus Dining Division, Ron started as a Student Manager and worked his way up to District Manager of multiple universities in Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. He finally retired in 2006 as the Director of Dining Services at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Ron was a member of Perritte Memorial United Methodist Church where he served his Lord on several committees. He loved photography, a good meal, traveling, SFA and LSU sports, the Rangers and the Cowboys. Above all, he was a “nifty” grandpa and he would never let you pay the tab.
