Ruth McGuire Banks

Mrs. Banks was born February 6, 1935, in Garrison, Texas, to parents John Daniel McGuire and Cora Irene (Carleton) McGuire. Though living a few years in Houston, Texas, and Orange, Texas, she had lived in Nacogdoches County most of her life.

Ruth was faithfully dedicated as a wife and mother with her family as a top priority in her life. She had worked as a nurse for over 30 years, retiring on February 25, 2005, from Nacogdoches Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 64 years, Raymond Asa Banks, on September 26, 2016. Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents and all siblings.

Her survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Donis Ray Banks of New Caney, Texas, James Ace and Cathy Banks of Aubrey, Texas, Billy Eugene and Debbie Banks of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Calvin Wade and Sherry Banks of Nacogdoches, Texas; a daughter, Tena Ruth Banks of Nacogdoches, Texas; grandsons, Joshua Daniel Banks of Houston, Texas, Ben Travis Banks of Austin, Texas, and Daniel Wade Banks of Lufkin, Texas; granddaughters and husbands, Jennifer and Steve Polen of Aubrey, Texas, Amanda LaJean and T.J. Williams of Austin, Texas, Courtney Michelle and Brad Davis of Aubrey, Texas, Karen Michelle Banks of Houston, Texas, Megan DeAnne and Sean Gabriel of Krum, Texas, and Stephanie Darlene and Ryan Gullett of Tomball, Texas; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas, with Bro. Shane Scroggins officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, located at 4922 FM 2864 near Nacogdoches, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2016, at Cason Monk-Metcalf.
