Ruth Martin

She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Dave Martin, her parents, her brother Otis Shipley and sister Lucille Halbert.

She is survived by three sons David Martin and wife Elaine of Grapevine, Mark Martin and wife Trudi of Beaumont, and John Martin of Spring, TX. Grandchildren Chris Martin and wife Jordana of Huffman, Wesley Martin and wife Amber of Lumberton, Heather Martin of Beaumont, Jonathan Martin and wife Emily of Nashville, TN, and Lauren Ivanoff and husband Nick also of Nashville, nine great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Shortly after graduating from Stephen F. Austin with a major in Education and a minor in Music, she taught elementary school for many years until she retired in 1973. She also enjoyed travelling and was accomplished at the piano.

Known to always have a smile for everyone, Ruth loved the Lord and walked faithfully with Him all her life. As an active member of North End Baptist Church in Beaumont her service included heavy involvement in the choir and music departments and many mission projects.

We wish to express our thanks to the many wonderful caregivers she has had through the years and Grand Brook Memory Care of Grapevine.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 10am at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home Nacogdoches, Texas, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am in their chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Nacogdoches.
