She graduated from Douglass High School in 1943 and soon joined the WWII war effort by working at North American Aviation in Grand Prairie while attending business school at night. Ruth’s dedication to her family and her Lord were never wavered; she was a devoted wife, loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. Ruth, or Maw Maw as the family referred to her, got true pleasure out of hosting family gatherings which involved her good cooking and beautiful presentation. She made each birthday and holiday a special event.
She was a member of New Hope Church for 45 years, and later a charter member of Nacogdoches Congregational Methodist Church. Ruth enjoyed serving as a Sunday School teacher for the Youth Group for many years, and served as President of the Women’s Missionary Society. She delighted in hosting visiting missionaries in her home.
In later years, Ruth, Felix and her brother, Bobby Morgan were instrumental in the rebirth of the former Douglass Methodist Church, now Faith Bridge Methodist Church were she continued to serve.
Ruth was a member of Gideon’s International, serving in the Women’s Auxiliary; she and Felix were also members of the East Texas Antique Car Club, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Felix Muckleroy; her parents; her brothers Hoyt Morgan, Kenneth Morgan, and Bob Morgan.
Survivors include her children Gary Muckleroy and wife Gayle, Ronnie Muckleroy and fiancé Bonnie Huguet, and Jan Dawley and husband Robin. Her Grandchildren Sandra and Brandon Wood, Jakey and Damon Sampson, Jolie and Monty Melton, Erica and Geoff Logan, Gigi and Eric Burbidge, Kent Birdwell, and Kelly Griffey.
