How I miss the big guy and will never forget him, he was one of a kind !Throughout the last several years it was hard to remember he was my brother-in- law, because he always introduced me as, "This is another one of my brats, this is my sissy !  I have known her since she was a baby, why I used to change her diaper !" which Alice always told me afterwards, " No, he did not !" But he loved seeing me get red in the face, and being embarrassed, in front of strangers ! Then you would hear  his gusto laugh, that only he possessed, and I would laugh with him !There were times when he made me forget he was my brother-in- law and I actually did feel I was ," One of his kids !" Dear aunt alice; I didn't get to spend a lot of time with uncle jay but what time I did I really enjoyed it he was a very loving funny sweet guy. He will be greatly missed I'm so glad that tinkerbell gave him lots of joy I know he loved her dearly. I wish I could say more but I really don't know exactly what to say just that you are dearly loved by all who know you, I know I love you dearly.

I never got to meet Jay Stanton but know of him through his wonderful family. From every thing I have heard about him, he was a good man and he leaves behind a great family of good people that love each other. Alice, my thoughts go out to you during this difficult time. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Dearest Grandma, I am not real sure what to say.I am notnvery good with words especially in times like this. i do believe you know my heart without a word. First I want to thank you for choosing Grandpa. You gave me the best grandpa anyone could want. Grandpa had a loving heart, a big heart, a good heart (all the way to the end). He loved ALL unconditionally. I believe part of that was because of his love for you and we are a part of you.
 There are many things I will never forget. Especially from the last seven weeks and day.
 I was just walking out the door of one job to go to the other when my phone rang. It was Mom. My heart sunk. I answered it to hear Mom tell me that they were taking Grandpa to the hospital ( instant tears) and that was all she knew. After work I haeded to ohio. I called Mom on my way. She said they were taking him to North Crest.
 When I got there I walked over hugged him with an I love you and sat on the bed beside him holding his hand. He just laid there looking at me. I said What? He said to me" I thought I would never see you again". My eyes welted with tears and I said oh Grandpa. Then I desided I was going  to stay with him. The next day I was called away because I was being asked for by my mother in-law. It was hard to leave. I told Grandpa I would be back as soon as I could.
 Grandma, I am so glad I had all those times with you and Grandpa. I enjoyed hearing how the two of you met, about your wedding night, how you got your nick name and the story of you getting chased be the pony and more.
 I do believe Grandpa enjoyed having me there most of the time. He was so cute. He would offer to share he food with me. He held my hand alot and there was a point when he wasn't very responsive and he seemed to like it when I would whisper in his ear. i like to think my cuddling him at different times helped to comfort him.
 There were lots of memories made at North Crest. His first night there and one of his bathroom trips still makes me smile. There were funny times and several precious times. There were trying and sad times.There were even times we wish we didn't have to remember. But Grandma I wouldn't trade one moment. In all that there was a stronger bond made between grandparents, parents and a child. No I wouldn't trade a second.
 Yes, Grandma november 30th was a sad day, but also a day of peace.
 Yes we do and will miss him but it will only be for a while.

Dear Daddy, Every night before I get ready for bed I pick up the phone to call and hear my silly goofy song that you usually made up or created by running several songs together. The excitement was never knowing what it would be. Then the tears come as it hits me that you are now singing in heaven ... boisterous and loud and off key and wonderful! To My Daddy,

I've been wanting to leave a note here for you but the words & thoughts are numerous and can't seem to come together to make sense for anyone to read.  I want most to Thank You, like I did last summer for every little and big thing we shared.  Sometimes those little things became the biggest in my heart and memory.  To list any from your trucks to my driving, from your garden to my swimming or even from your guidance in "life's lessons" to instructions on how a young girl should be able to take care of her own car emergencies.  So she wouldn't be stranded in the middle of nowhere.  You were my giant, my bear, my safe place, my song in the morning and the man who loved not just one but so many, so deeply, so completely.  I will miss you Daddy everyday of my life.  Your Lil Brat, your Wanda YUM,Yum,Yumadeeyum!  I Love You.

Dear Grandma,

 I would like to share with you a couple of my most vivid childhood memories of Grandpa. I've shared these memories in the past and most certainly will share them with my Son, his Great Grandson. And, when he gets old enough to appreciate the humor in the stories I will not tell, I most certainly will share those laughs with him as well.

  I remember our fishing trips on the Maumee, I remember every time I asked him to take me we went. And, every time we went, we stopped to get ice cream on the way home. I remember one fishing trip in particular. I was a young boy and had a huge fascination with snakes, but, was also pretty fearful of them. Grandpa and I were sitting on the shore fishing when I walked off to do a little exploring, Grandpa shouted "Watch out for the snakes!" My eyes got big and I got pretty excited, I said "there's snakes out here!?" Grandpa replied, " yeah there's dozens of them under that deck over there". I told Grandpa I didn't believe him, I thought he was joking with me. No more than a minute after I told him I didn't believe him, he was head first under the deck, when he backed out from under the deck he was holding a snake. "I told ya" It was awesome then, still awesome 20 years later, and will always be awesome.

  I remember the bike rides we would take, and the berries we would pick. I remember one bike ride in particular. I had found a new bike trail, it was a ROUGH trail with several steep drops. Grandpa must have been in his mid 60's, but was still willing to go ride on this "new trail" with me. I didn't think he would be able to keep up with me, he did and eventually took the lead going through the trail. He rode up to a spot where there was basically a fork in the trail. One route had a smaller drop off, one route with a larger drop off (at the time I thought it was HUGE). I had never taken that route. Of course....that was the one Grandpa chose to go down, so I followed....it was my first time down that hill.

Grandpa will be missed, but, his stories and his memories will live on.

Dear Aunt Alice
The years pass by so quickly, we grow up and our lives takes us in so many different directions. We become so involved in our own lives that lie before us, that before we realize it...our lives are behind us. I will always have my memories of Uncle Jay, what a jokester, I will always remember the horseradish!
My love and prayers for God's richest Blessings for you Aunt Alice. My prayer for the family is just to know its not goodbye...its only until you meet again.

Dear, Dear Alice,  I am so sorry for you and your families hurting.  However just think how beautiful heaven is with all of Jays flowers planted up there.  I so remember his beautiful flowers when Tammy live by you guys.  Love and prayers to you all!!

It is never easy losing a loved one, especially a parent or mate, so it isn't easy to know what words really are appropriate or helpful. My dearest Grandma Stanton,

I will so miss Grandpa who in my younger early years became to me like a second father figure, in the absence of my own father who worked hard at farming and working at GM. Spending a lot of my summer time with Grandpa, fishing from the pontoon, riding around in his speed boat, swimming in the river. Always making me laugh and making me feel safe. Were ever we went Grandpa always made me stay on his right side telling me that it was safer that way. I never new why, I just trusted him; Funny aint it, Jesus sets on the right hand side of the thrown of God looking out for us, praying for us and keeping us safe.  Now that I'm older I understand this, I also understand that Grandpa had more of God in his heart then he led us on to believe.                                                                
Grandpa taught me your never to big to tell someone you love them or to give them a hug or kiss, he also taught me to always be kind to others, even strangers. Saying everyone needs someone, especially those who are far from home. I remember one time when Grandpa and I were staying at the cottage down at round bottom; we woke the next morning to find a scruffy looking man sleeping in the yard and his motorcycle standing next to him. Grandpa started cooking breakfast and made me go out and wake the man up and invite him to breakfast. I was so scared, but when I looked back at the cottage as I got closer to the stranger, Grandpa was watching through the window. The man said he didn't want to impose, but Grandpa insisted. After the man ate with us and left on his way, I asked Grandpa why he did that. Grandpa said no one should ever go hungry, a full belly keeps a man honest and an honest man isn't a stranger. 
Now that I'm grown, despite everything I know that Grandpa had God in his heart, and his belly is full. I will truly miss you with all my heart. Grandma you have my deepest sympathy in your lose. You were truly blessed to have Grandpa. I love you very much and will always keep you in my prayers.
