

Edwin Francis Cooke, Jr., a devoted family man and stalwart servant of his country and faith, peacefully passed away on July 21, 2024, in Homestead, Florida, at the age of 92. Born on September 20, 1931, in Clifton, New Jersey, to Edwin F. Cooke Sr. and Margaret (Russell) Robinson, he is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Josefina Diaz Cooke.
Known affectionately as “Pop-pop,” “Ed,” or even “Cookie” by those around him, Edwin’s life was defined by his unwavering commitment to his family, his country, and his Lord. He embodied the American Dream—a man who served his nation with honor, earned his keep through hard work and dedication, and raised and provided for his family the best a man ever could. His love for his family and friends was limitless, providing them with unwavering support and wisdom.
A man of deep faith, Edwin's spiritual journey was a cornerstone of his life. His devotion to his Lord was evident in his kindness and compassion towards others, and his faith guided him through both the good times and the bad.
Pop-pop will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his children: Emory and Cindy Cooke, Josephine Margaret Cooke Leteff; grandchildren: Cristina and William Faith, Gregory Edwin and Molly Cooke, Edwin Paul Draughn, Amanda Nicole Guadayol; and great-grandchildren: David Edwin Miller, Faith Ann Miller, Danielle Nicole Miller, Benjamin Edwin Cooke, and Callie Anne Cooke, whom he adored beyond measure.
A memorial service to honor Ed's life and legacy will be held on July 26 at Caballero Rivero Palms Woodlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or any veterans’ organization of your choice in memory of Edwin Francis Cooke, Jr
Edwin's legacy of love, integrity, and faith will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory be a blessing to us all.
A private visitation for Edwin's family will be held Friday, July 26, 2024 from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM and a public visitation will be available from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM at Caballero Rivero Palms Woodlawn, 27100 Old Dixie Hwy, Naranja, FL 33032.
