

She was born on February 22, 1925 the daughter of Alfred and Helen (Moriarty) Barrett and was a lifelong resident of the Gate City.
Freda was a graduate of Nashua High School class of 1942 and Nashua Business College in 1943. She had worked at various bookkeeping jobs and “took a break” to raise her children. She returned to the work force to assist her husband in their business, Van’s Dairy Bar and later Twin Bridges Restaurant and Lounge. After they sold their business, Freda went back to the office with United Way and later with the State of NH until she retired in 1987.
Following retirement, Freda was active in the National Alliance of the Mentally Ill (NAMI) traveling throughout the country, her church, and loved spending time with her granddaughter. Freda enjoyed connecting with her friends, her computer, was an invisible seamstress improviser, enjoyed painting sweatshirts, crossword puzzles, Sudoku and cooking. She will be missed by all and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years Van Anagnost in 2012 and by her sister Lucille Dupont.
Members of her family include her children, Nick, Meg, Matt and his wife Lisa, her granddaughter Molly Branch, her sister Pauline Theriault, her brother Raymond Barrett, her in-laws James Anagnost, Bette Brooks and Angeline Sheck as well as several dear nieces, nephews and cousins and a very good friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday September 19, 2103 from 6:00 to 8:00pm in the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St. in Nashua. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday September 20 at 11:00am at the Parish of the Resurrection 449 Broad St. Nashua. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Freda’s name to NAMI 85 No. State St. Concord, NH 03301, the Visiting Nurse Association 1070 Holt Ave. Manchester, NH 03109 or to Harbor Homes 14 Maple St. Nashua, NH 03060. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Hospital and Courville of Nashua for the tender and loving care their mother received.
