It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Joseph William Aronofsky, who peacefully passed on April 5, 2026, at the age of 91, surrounded by the comforting presence of his son Scott and daughter-in-law Tina. Born on August 27, 1934, in Chelsea, Massachusetts, Joe was a cherished son of the late Harry and Mary Aronofsky. Joe grew up in a loving household alongside his brother Robert, who predeceased him and brother Bernard. He graduated from Medford High School in 1952, and shortly thereafter, embarked on a noble journey by serving his country with pride and dedication in the United States Air Force. After his military service, and a stint at Liberty Mutual Insurance company Joe found his calling as a salesman with the Fine Arts Sterling Silver company. His career path later led him to become part-owner of Northern Pools in Wilmington, Massachusetts, where he resided until retiring to Florida and later to Brookline NH. Joe was not only a dedicated professional but also a devoted family man. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary (Cooke) Aronofsky, with whom he shared many wonderful years of marriage. Together, they nurtured a loving family filled with laughter and warmth. Joe is survived by his children, who were his pride and joy: daughter Carol (Aronofsky) Goodwin, and sons Richard Aronofsky with his spouse Heidi, and Scott Aronofsky with his spouse Tina Maglio. His legacy of love and kindness continues to flourish through his children, grandchildren especially Matthew and great grandchildren.Joe's life was enriched by his passion for sports, particularly his unwavering devotion to the Boston Red Sox. A lifelong fan, he experienced the ultimate joy of witnessing his beloved team to clinch the World Series title in 2004, a moment he cherished. A celebration of Joe's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Joe's memory to a charity of your choice. Joe will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.
