Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Rosalie Julia (Tutrone) Veinott, 82, of Dover, NH, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 16, 2026, surrounded by her family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Jack; children: Michele (Bob) Millham and Arthur Veinott; grandson John; sister Marie Guide; sisters-in-law Pat Enwright and Kathy French, as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
Rosalie was born in Somerville, MA and grew up in Revere, MA, attending schools there. She and her younger sister Marie, although eight years apart in age, were close throughout life. The family also had a rich tradition of celebrating events with an extended group of aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Phil and Lena (DeAngelis) Tutrone.
Rosalie was a strong believer in education and was a life-long learner. When she was first married with a young child, Rosalie encouraged her husband Jack to attend night school while he worked full-time. With her support, he earned associate’s and bachelor's degrees in Nuclear Engineering, leading to career opportunities that brought the family to Dover, New Hampshire in the early 70’s.
Rosalie herself attended adult swim lessons at the Dover Indoor Pool to overcome her fear of water and to be an example for her children. Later, when her children were in junior and senior high school, she attended enrichment classes at the University of New Hampshire in Durham. While there, she discovered her love of the scientific field of nutrition. She then earned associate’s, bachelor's, and master’s degrees in Nutritional Sciences. She completed several internships and became a Registered Dietitian. She applied her knowledge to helping brain injury patients at Highwatch Rehabilitation Center in Ossipee and later as a Patient Representative at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover.
In later years, after Jack’s retirement, Rosalie and Jack enjoyed many winters in Sun City Center, Florida in the company of other active retired friends. She enjoyed the educational seminars offered and discovered a love of birding and nature watching, with the ideal pond setting and sunset views from their second home. For the warmer months, she always enjoyed returning to Dover where she could watch her grandson John grow right in front of her eyes, often attending his baseball games.
Despite the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease, she retained her feisty sense of humor. She had many favorite sayings, most frequently her responses when being told she was short. “Good things come in small packages” and “the bigger they are, the harder they fall” were two favorites. Rosalie and Jack were devoted to each other, with nearly 60 years of marriage. They shared many fond memories of trips to the White Mountains, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Italy, and Ireland – where they renewed connections with Jack’s cousins.
In recent months, she was supported by carers from Home Instead, who learned to get past her initial reluctance to have someone in the home, and by her family, especially son Arthur and Jack, who were advised by the Cornerstone VNA hospice program. Daughter Michele and Bob took care of the “family business” for Rosalie and Jack by handling financial, legal, and medical matters.
Although she is gone from our daily lives, we are confident in her faith that she is in heaven and will meet up with Jack and her loved ones again.
Friends and family are invited to a funeral service on Thursday, April 16 at 11 am at St. Joseph’s Church at 150 Central Avenue in Dover, NH.
Memorial donations can be made to the New Hampshire Food Bank/Dover Food Pantry in recognition of Rosalie’s belief that no one should be hungry or malnourished:
