Alyce Joyce Powell, 84 of Nashville, IN passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019. She was born April 29, 1935 in Bethesda, Ohio the daughter of the late Chester and Vada Norris Secrest. Joyce was a member of the Church of Christ at Pikes Peak. She was a member of the Nashville Chamber of Commerce. She loved God, her family, others and was an encourager to everyone. She always gave God credit for everything and never complained. She loved spending time with her family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent many early morning hours on Bible study and preparing Bible lessons. She and Gene often took time and effort to comfort and encourage those in need. She was “Grandmama” to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed. Joyce is survived by her son, Greg Powell and his wife Marsha; her daughter, Dawn Miller and her husband Terry; a sister, Janet McCoy; five grandchildren, Monica (Mike) Bozeman, Adam (Alicia) Miller, Dr. Andy (Kim) Powell, Lindsay (Austin) Ricks, and Hayley Powell; eleven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild with one on the way shortly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George “Gene” Powell who passed on July 30, 2019; a daughter, Linda Powell; a sister, Judy Burley; and a brother, Charles Secrest. Memorial services to celebrate Gene and Joyce’s lives will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Bond Mitchell Funeral Home.
