Barbara Ann Skinner, age 90, of White Springs, Florida, formerly of Brown County, Indiana, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Willow Brook Assisted Living Center in Lake City, Florida. Born November 4, 1934 in Brown County, she was the daughter of Cecil Ray and Lena (Brown) Bowden. Barbara retired from the Manatee County Schools food service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in White Springs, Florida where she formerly sang in the church choir.
Barbara is survived by her son, Steven Ray Skinner, one grandson, Joshua Burkett, of Asheville, North Carolina, one great-grandson, Robert Evan Simington and two sisters, Susan (John) Hundley, of Columbus, Indiana and Rachel (Richard) Oyer, of Lake Worth, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ival “Max” Skinner, in 2015; four brothers, James Bowden, Bill Bowden, Gerald Bowden and Jack Bowden and one sister, Connie Leffler.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home; 1682 St. Rd. 135 North in Nashville with her brother-in-law, John Hundley, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville. Friends may visit the family on Saturday from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the First Baptist Church, White Springs, Florida.
