

Brian David Ress, 57, of Nashville passed away at his home April 30, 2015. He was born October 11, 1957 in Harlington, TX the son of Norman E. Ress and Joan K. “Jo”(Doerner) Ress Quigley. They preceded him in death.
Brian was an Air Force “Brat” and lived numerous places in and out of the United States with his parents while growing up. He spent most of his teen years in Indianapolis attending Warren Central High School. After graduating from Brown County High School in 1975 Brian attended Indiana University. It was at IU he met Connie Sturgeon; they married in 1977. To this marriage two daughters were born, Jennifer in 1982 and Elizabeth in 1984. One of his famous quotes was “I am outnumbered by females in this house.”
Brian was an electrical lineman for South Central Indiana REMC where he was very dedicated and loved his job. He retired after 25 years of service and meeting several coworkers and members who became close friends. Brian belonged to IBEW Local 1393, Martinsville, and served as assistant union steward.
Brian volunteered his time as girls youth softball coach, past president of the Brown County 4-H Fair Board, Indiana Shooting Sports Committee, and instructor with the State of Indiana Hunter Education. He was passionate about golf and enjoyed hunting. Brian loved family vacations that included all twelve family members and spending weekends with them enjoying various outside recreational activities.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Connie Sturgeon Ress, Nashville, daughters, Jennifer (Billy) Ress-Henry, Evansville and Elizabeth (Richard) Voland, Brown County, six grandchildren, Evan Ress, Liam Henry, Isabella, Ethan, Jacob, and Quintin Voland, brother, Mark (Chris) Ress, Columbus, sister in law, Janet Eads, brother in law, Jim D. Sturgeon, both of Brown County, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, David Ress, sister in law, Linda (Mike) Merriman , brother in law, Jack Eads, father and mother in law, James and Lois Sturgeon and his grandparents.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 5 at 11:00 A.M. at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, Nashville with Pastor Jimmy Dill officiating. Burial will follow in Duncan Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday, May 4, 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. and one hour prior to the service.
