Dean H. Price, age 85, of Nashville passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 at Our Hospice in Columbus, Indiana. Dean was born August 24, 1935 in East Chicago, Indiana to Dennis H. and Gladys C. (Harter) Price. He married Ruth C. Steill on June 29, 1955 in Lafayette, Indiana. Recently he was heard to say “She is the best thing to ever happen to me”. Dean and Ruth were married for 66 years. In 1968, Dean and Ruth moved their family of five to Brown County, Indiana, just outside of Nashville. Dean had been dreaming of living in Brown County since a visit he made when he was eight years old. He was very proud to have served as a reserve officer for the Brown County Sheriff’s Department and Captain of the reserve force in the 1970’s. He enjoyed his daily crossword puzzles and woodworking. He was an avid reader and never happier than when he was out on his riding mower. Traveling to Hawaii was a great joy for him. He and Ruth made many trips to the islands and made some great friends there.
Dean is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Price, of Nashville, his son, John (Marilyn) Price, of Nashville, his daughter, Caron (William) Kautz, of Dana, Indiana; two grandchildren, Adam M. Price, of Indianapolis and Amanda C. Kautz, of Dana, Indiana, one sister, Marcia A. McKibben, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Michael D. Price and one brother, Duane E. Price.
A private graveside funeral service will be held at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in honor of Dean to Saint Vincent DePaul; c/o SVDP Brown County; P.O. Box 577; Nashville, IN 47448 or to Mother’s Cupboard Community Kitchen.
