
He was born December 28, 1927 near El Paso, TX to George Wallace Gould II and Jessie Estelle (Randal) Gould. They preceded him in death. His sister, Cynthia Phillips, also preceded him in death.
George was a graduate of Ysleta Schools in El Paso, TX. He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving from 1946-1948. He graduated in 1952 from Marquette University with a degree in Civil Engineering, and from the University of Delaware in 1973 with a Masters degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed with E.I. DuPont from 1952-1985 as a Civil Engineer. George was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Over the years George enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, and drawing. He also enjoyed traveling in his 5th wheel travel trailer. He had a great love of the American Southwest, notably Arizona and New Mexico where he loved hiking the canyons and mountains. In his later years, George became an avid bird watcher and caregiver of family pets.
George is lovingly survived by his wife, Sharon Jungclaus-Gould, step-daughter, Anne (Kevin) Coyner and their daughter, Willow and step-son, Karl F. (Kari) Jungclaus and their children, Miles and Wyatt. He is also survived by his first wife, Patricia (Kehoe) Gould, and their seven children, Debra Gould-Miller, OH, Aimee Gould, KY, Michael Gould, CT, Joel (Sarah) Gould, NC, Ivy Fowler-Gould, NC, Jaime Gould, NC, Mary Ann (William) Windham, NC, many loving grandchildren and several great grandchildren, step daughters, Aundrea Wright, TN and Deborah (Steve) Wright-Gibelli and their children from his marriage to Jeane Wright-Gould who preceded him in death. A nephew also survives, Michael (Lorette) Phillips, TX and their children. His nephew, Gene Phillips also preceded him in death.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at a later date in Arizona to honor George’s wishes for his ashes to be released in the Grand Canyon, a place he held dear and sacred.
