He is survived by five children, Craig (Kelly) Zody, Jamie Lynn Fink, Renita Marie (Mike) Kinnaman, James Lloyd Shipley II, and Robby Thompson, his grandchildren, Jeremiah, Canyon, Karma, Kindred , Lisa, Kelly, Gracelyn, and Alicia, and one great grandchild, Bentley, his siblings, Lana (Virgil) Carter, Sonny, Rita Fox, Kevin (Pat), Stephen, Randy, Cathy, and Candy, and also many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ric.
He was given the nickname “Toad Hide” when he was around four years old by a family friend. Everyone who knew him can attest to what a great storyteller he was. He truly inherited our ancestors’ gift of gab and spinning tall tales around a cup of coffee with friends and family. He worked for National Liquors for many years and as a local carpenter in Brown County.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 7 from 1:00-3:00 PM at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home.
