Ann Batey Whitley

Ann Batey Whitley, age 99, of Nashville, stepped into eternity on March 1, 2016. Born November 1, 1916 near Smyrna, Tennessee to Maggie Jordan Batey and James Benjamin Batey, Sr. Preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, David V. Whitley; parents; sisters, Margaret Batey and Sue Batey Baker and brother, J. Benjamin Batey, Jr. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Randy Hooper of Brentwood; granddaughters, Mary Hooper of Nashville and Jordan Hooper Shireman (Jamison) of Brentwood; sister, Evelyn Batey Sigmund of Lake Charles,LA; brother, Thomas E. Batey and sister-in-law, Bonnie T. Batey of Maryville; ten nieces and nephews; and many cherished cousins. Ann graduated from David Lipscomb College and Harding College. After living in Nashville, Philadelphia, Norfolk, Chicago, Atlanta and Jacksonville, Ann and Dave returned to Nashville to be near Ann’s wonderful family. Ann was a member of Bellevue Church of Christ and a volunteer and resident at Lakeshore Meadows. Ann possessed the gifts of friendship, encouragement and hospitality. She made lasting relationships wherever she lived. Visitation will be held from four o’ clock in the evening until seven on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. A private interment will be held at a later date.
