Betsy H. Beard

Betsy H. Beard, age 99, of Pleasant View, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023. Betsy was born on June 14, 1923 in Waverly, Tennessee to the late Mrs. Jessie Mae Horner (Morgan) and Mr. Jesse Horner. Betsy graduated from Ward-Belmont. She worked for the Tennessean, Tennessee Department of Unemployment Claims and as a substitute school teacher. She married Hayes M. Beard Jr and they had two sons together. Betsy was a gentle loving soul who adored and lived her children and grandchildren. She loved animals, loved to cook, fish, sew, work in her garden, travel, and shop. She was an avid collector of antiques and loved jewelry. Betsy enjoyed the cooking club at church. She is survived by her sons, John Horner Beard and William Hayes Beard; grandchildren, Rachel Ward (Michael Wayne) Hurst and Robert Hayes Beard; great grandchildren, Michael Wayne Hurst, III and Callie Nicole Hurst. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Hayes M. Beard, Jr.; sisters, Mary Ruth Tate (Horner) and Melba Walton (Horner). A gathering of family & friends for Betsy will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204, followed by a graveside service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
