

Born on September 15, 1937, in Nashville, Tennessee, Betty was a graduate of Watertown High School. She went on to earn a Master’s Plus degree from Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College, reflecting her lifelong dedication to education and learning.
Betty was a beloved teacher, treasured friend, precious family member and loving, caring, sister. On April 4, 1958, Betty married the love of her life, Judge William H. Norris, in the home of her aunt in Donelson, Tennessee. Her beloved husband precedes her in death. Betty found great joy in vacationing with husband, sister and family members. Also, indulging in shopping excursions, and sharing meals and laughter with her dear, devoted friend, Brenda Jones.
Betty devoted over 30 years to teaching at Margaret Allen Elementary School, where she touched the lives of countless students with her warmth, wisdom, and commitment. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Tennessee Education Association (TEA), National Education Association (NEA), and the Metropolitan Nashville Education Association (MNEA).
She is survived by her loving sister, Helen M. Burke; her cherished nephews, George A. Burke (Lea) and Michael L. Burke; her beloved great-niece, Ellie Burke, and great-nephew, Will Burke; and her devoted friend, Brenda Jones. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and loved ones. She will stay in our hearts forever.
