

CORLEW, Charles D. age 86, born August 29, 1925 and passed away from this life on March 29, 2012. Devoted husband, father, and grandfather he is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Katie Smith Corlew; son Randy Corlew, of Morristown; daughter Kathy (Tim) McNutt of Brentwood; grandchildren Timothy (Amy) McNutt, Gregg Corlew, Jeremy (Christine) McNutt, David McNutt, Natalie Corlew, Evan Corlew and Hannah Corlew. He is also survived by his brother Don (Tommy Jean) Corlew and his sister Eva Mae Lautenbach and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his brother Thomas Corlew, Ed Corlew, Robert (Pete) Corlew and sister Robbie Corlew Miller. He was a model of the American ideal, loving God, family, and country. He was a member of Glendale United Methodist Church for 56 years where he served in several roles and and in the church choir. He loved his grandchildren and could be a one man cheering section whether he was at the ballfield or at an eagle scout ceremony. He served in the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet on the USS Savo Island CVE-78 during which time he saw heavy combat in the Phillipines. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over forty years. Visitation will be held Sunday, the 1st of April, from 2PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Monday, the 2nd of April, at 11:30AM in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall with visitation held one hour prior. Rev. Sandra Griggs and Tim Frizzell will officiate. Entombment to follow service in Woodlawn’s Cross Mausoleum. Pallbearers are Timothy, Jeremy, and David McNutt, Gregg and Evan Corlew, Robert and Eric Lautenbach, Eddie Corlew, Sean Wright, and Mark Adkinson.
