It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Tim Turner, a beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother, and friend, on March 6, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on May 19, 1955, in Mitchellville, TN, Tim lived a life marked by kindness, integrity, and a deep commitment to his family and friends.
Tim was preceded in death by his father Harold Ray Turner, mother Mildred Turner Roland, stepfather Benjamin Forrest Roland, brother David Ray Turner, and son Benjamin Lee Turner. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Beth Wood Turner, daughter Margaret Allison Turner, son-in-law Zachary Keith Gilbert, and grandchildren, Skyla Rose Gilbert, Carter William Gilbert, Jada Joy Marie Gilbert, and Oliver Benjamin Gilbert. He will forever be cherished by his family and friends whose lives were made richer by his presence.
Known to most as Tim, he is a 1974 graduate of Goodlettsville High School. He had a long and fulfilling career at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he worked for many years, leaving a lasting impact on his colleagues and the many lives he touched. Outside of his professional life, Tim dedicated much of his time to serving his community. In the late 90s, he became a volunteer firefighter with the Kingston Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Tim found great joy in working with the Explorers Program, a hands-on initiative for young people interested in learning about firefighting and emergency services. He formed many lifelong friendships during his time volunteering and was proud to be part of such an impactful program.
Tim was a passionate outdoorsman, with a love for hunting, fishing, and target shooting. One of his favorite places to be was on the open water of Old Hickory Lake, where he found peace and joy. Tim's other hobbies included woodworking, talking on his CB radio, and painting. Although he had no formal painting experience, he was very good at it.
Tim will be remembered for his voice, his laugh, his friendliness, and his love for life. He is described by many as having the biggest heart. Whether through his dedication to family, his volunteer work, or his creative pursuits, Tim's legacy of wisdom, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held Thursday March 13th, 2025, from 4-7pm at Woodmont Christian Church, Nashville, TN, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory.
