

PARRISH, Dallas – age 84, born in Erin, TN. July 12, 1928. He was the 8th of 10 children and the youngest son of Luther and Inis Parrish. A son of a farmer, having learned to work hard, he left his country home to begin working in Nashville at the early age of 14 and continued until he retired due to failing health in 2011. With a passion for cooking he achieved the level of a Certified Executive Chef in 1995, earning numerous awards including Chef of the Year. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving onboard the USS Leyte, receiving an honorable discharge in 1950. Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn (Rolin) and son Tony Parrish, also brothers; Arzell, Othel and Junior Parrish, sisters Inez Parrish, Ruby Warfield-Blackwell, Ova Lee Russell, Odessa Jenkins-Maxwell, and Louise Wurzel. He is survived by his sister Gleendolla (Pud) Ethridge, his son, Randy and wife Marty, daughters, Danita Dorris and husband Roger and Tina (Parrish) Singleton, along with 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall with visitation held one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be uniformed Chefs from the America Culinary Federation of Middle Tennessee.
