

Delores Stephens WEHBY, age 89, passed away November 14, 2021. Delores was born in Birmingham, Alabama on September 29, 1932 where she lived with her seven siblings and her Lebanese-American father who was widowed when Delores was six years old. She attended Ramsay High School where she was a cheerleader and a member of the Alabama state championship volleyball team and went on to work for Standard Oil. In August 1953 she married William “Bill” Wehby Sr. and moved to Nashville, and later Brentwood, TN. She was a member of the Cathedral of Incarnation Catholic Parish in Nashville, and a member of the Ladies of Charity of Nashville where she worked as a volunteer in the charitable thrift shop every Friday during seasonal openings for many years. Her life revolved around her large family, her charitable works, and her active social life. She especially enjoyed a love of travel, playing bridge and poker with her friends, collecting antiques, and cooking meals for large gatherings in her home which happened weekly throughout most of her life. She was loved and cherished by her many family members and friends and will be very missed.
She is survived by her eight children; Teresa Wrenn, Stephanie (Tommy) Page, Diane (Lee) Carter, Jennifer (Joe) Lewis, Jane (Robert) Stuart, Denise (Dillard) Baker, William “Bill” (Teresa) Wehby, Jr. and Leslie (Jason) Arkenberg.
She was “Sitti” to her twenty-three surviving grandchildren; Michael (Andy) Wrenn, Stephen (Annabelle) Wrenn, Gregory (Jodi) Wrenn, Emily Page (David) Steele, Adam (Laralee) Page, Amy Page (Rob) Trim, Matthew Carter, Luke (Lindsay) Carter, Ben Carter, Joseph (Leah) Lewis, Brian Lewis, Lisa Stuart (Cody) Cummings, Delores Stuart, Jenny (Tad) Barber, Tracy (Neil) Watson, Nancy Margaret Wehby, Anna Wehby, Quintin Wehby, William Wehby, William Harwood, Elizabeth Harwood, Charles Arkenberg and Lily Arkenberg.
She is also survived by twelve great grand-children; Bennett Wrenn, Braeden Wrenn, Brooks Wrenn, Eileen Steele, William Steele, Sarah Francis Steele, Rose Carter, Caroline Trim, Jack Trim, James Trim, Nolan Wrenn, and Carlie Belle Barber. She is survived by one brother, Lewis Stephens, and a sister, Henrietta Bruner, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years; William “Bill” Wehby Sr. and her parents; Lewis Azar Stephens and Elizabeth Saab Stephens; her siblings Charles Stephens, Eloise Stephens, Martha Zaden, Lily Higdon, Shirley Sanders; and her granddaughter, Abby Carter.
Visitation and a celebration of her life will be held at Cathedral of Incarnation, 2015 West End Avenue on Wednesday, November 17. Visitation is from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon in the Fleming Center. The funeral Mass will be at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Ladies of Charity, which helps Nashvillians living in poverty, 2216 State Street, Nashville, TN 37203; or to St. Jude Children’s’ Hospital at Stjude.org, where her great grandson, James Trim and many others are treated for pediatric cancer.
