Born in Nashville, Tennessee to Annie Mae Kelso-Greene and Louis Larry Greene, Donnie lived a life grounded in love, faith, family, and service. Known for his gentle spirit and quiet strength, he made others feel seen, valued, and safe.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Melisa Louise Greene; sons Cyrus D. Greene and Cody D. Greene; daughter-in-law Shenikwa Greene; and his cherished granddaughter Cori Elyse Greene, who brought him endless joy. Always by his side was his loyal dog, Keng. He also leaves behind sisters Deborah Sales and Vicky Small, sisters-in-love Marcy Dowell and Shelia Green, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, siblings David Kelso and Brenda Greene-Smith, father- and mother-in-law William C. & Mamie L. Green, and dear friend Shirley Turner.
Donnie worked over 40 years in the Rehab Services Department at Vanderbilt University and also served in home health care, offering compassion, care, and comfort to many. As a faithful member of Foster Avenue Church of Christ, he lived his faith through kindness, generosity, and presence.
He found joy in family vacations, holidays filled with laughter, and sitting peacefully on the porch — a familiar sight to neighbors in Woodbine. Donnie leaves behind a legacy of love, encouragement, and purpose that will continue through the lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
