Mrs. Dorothy J Elliott

Dorothy Jones Elliott, age 90, of Nashville, TN passed into Glory on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 at TriStar Summit Hospital. She was a much beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Richard N. (Tee) Elliott and three daughters: Linda Smith of Collierville, TN, Cathy Pickle (Scooter) of Franklin, TN, and Teena Thurston (Rick) of Collierville, TN; grandchildren: Ashley Miskel (Jay), V. H. Pickle, IV, Amber Bergstrom (Donny). Her grandson John Elliott Thurston predeceased her in 1998. She is also survived by five great grandchildren: Cole and Kate Miskel, Hunter Pickle, and Trey and Luke Bergstrom. She is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Dorothy grew up in Williamson County in the Burwood Community. She was the daughter of Wiley F. and Annie K. Jones (née Williams).

Dorothy was all about her family and extended family. She loved family gatherings and being together for the Holidays. Any chance to share a meal or time with her family was a special occasion for her. Her love for her family knew no bounds.

When “Dot” made a friend, she made a friend for life, and her friends became a part her family.

As long as she was able, she loved to fish, and would go anytime she could get someone to take her out on the lake. She loved to play games and in recent years could best all of us on Words with Friends.

She loved to shop, and is most known for her prolific shoe shopping. Even in her last days, she was concerned about her shoes.

Dorothy retired from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and had worked for the Internal Revenue Service along with other positions during her career. Early on she was secretary to Judge Gray in Franklin, TN.

Due to the pandemic crisis, a private graveside service will be held on Friday, April 17th at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Nashville, TN. A Celebration of Dot’s Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage anyone to make a contribution to the charity of their choice.
