Dorothy All Glaus “Dottie”, Age 91, passed away peacefully Friday, May 1st, 2020. Dottie was born on June 8, 1928, to the late William Hamilton All and Helen Bell All. She is survived by her sons, Robert Wayne (Lynne) Glaus, William Diehl Glaus and John Randall (Jill) Glaus; grandchildren, Aaron, Rachel, Shannon, William D., Jr. and Abby Rose; and her brother, William (Eleanor) All of Marietta, Georgia. Dottie was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Oscar Diehl “O.D.” Glaus, Jr., who passed away in 2010.
Dottie was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and her family moved frequently during her childhood to New Orleans, Charlotte, Memphis and Nashville. That experience gave her a love of travel and adventure. She instilled that sense of adventure in her sons. As a young mother, Dottie would pack up her three boys in the station wagon for long summer road trips, with the goal of touching all 50 states. No one knows for sure if they actually reached that goal, but everyone agrees there was NO STOPPING.
Dottie graduated from Nashville’s West High School, where she met her future husband, O.D. She attended Belmont College and went on to work for the Southern Bell Telephone Company and the Methodist Bookstore. Dottie developed many life-long friendships in Nashville, and actively participated in community social clubs. She was a member of the P.E.O., the garden club, the DAR and Cheekwood, where she volunteered for many years. Dottie was young at heart and created a group of young friends she affectionately named “The Moo-moos,” who gathered regularly for joy and laughter.
As a resident at The St. Paul in Green Hills, Dottie enjoyed her role on the hospitality committee as well as card games and outings with her friends. Dottie was a devout Christian and cared deeply about her family and friends. She was a member of Belmont Methodist Church, where she volunteered, and she participated in weekly bible study at The St. Paul. Our hearts are full in knowing she now rests with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The family wishes to thank the staff at The St. Paul and NHC Cool Springs for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Salvation Army, Belmont Methodist Church Music Ministry or the charity of your choice. With the recent outbreak of Coronavirus, we will postpone Dottie's Celebration Service until the CDC’s regulations allow. As a family, we want to be respectful as all of us join to lessen the spread of the disease. When the appropriate time comes, we will update the information at this site and use the benefit of Face Book and social media, as well. Our family looks forward to the time that we can celebrate and remember together. There will be a private Graveside Service held at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
