Dorothy Ann Wabsey was born Dorothy Prescott on April 16, 1947. She was the daughter of the late Stanley Bynum Prescott and Levonia Ferrell Prescott. Her father was a Baptist preacher who met her mother in the hills of Woodbury, TN. Her siblings were Mazel Pearl, Clifton J, Martha Jo, Jerry Wayne and Dorothy Ann was the youngest. She and her family moved to Memphis, TN where she attended school. She relocated to Nashville and met her husband Errol there. She had children James who died at birth, Charles Randall who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2016, Michelle who cared for her, and two other children, sadly whereabouts unknown, all whom she loved very much. Most of her family has gone on to be with the Lord.
Dorothy is survived by daughter Michelle Hale Barker, brother Jerry Prescott of Tullahoma, a few nieces, nephews, and grandchildren who are out of state and unfortunately some she never got to know. Nevertheless, she loved them all very much.
Dorothy was a homemaker and was very well read. She taught herself how to play musical instruments including the organ, and worked hard to earn a Doctorate of Divinity in 1979. She was very knowledgable about the Bible and she loved the Lord. She had a difficult life though and was deeply saddened as her family fell apart and also as family members passed. Her daughter Michelle brought Dorothy to live with her more than twenty years ago and was with her when she went home to be with the Lord.
In those later years, Dorothy kept herself company by having a vivid imagination. She claimed to have known Elvis, The Beatles, Boxcar Willie and Porter Wagoner and they seemed to visit her often even though no one else ever met them. She loved old movies, old time gospel hymns, she loved animals, and would often get caught off her walker feeding the birds and wildlife from her back patio, and she often recounted the years past. Most of all she loved her family and now that she has gone on to be with the Lord we hope she has found the peace that she longed for in her life.
Dorothy Ann will be greatly missed and is finally reunited with her loved ones God has already called home.
