

Ernestine Perry was born in Double Springs Alabama on December 20, 1922 to Henry Ernest Perry & Ella Mae Robinson Perry. She had 6 siblings: Audrey, Ruth, Lacy, Henri Ella, Delano & Otto (born October 30, 1919 & passed away the same day). The family moved to Lobelville Tennessee where she was the Valedictorian at Lobelville High School in 1942. After graduating Ernestine moved to San Francisco California & became a Telegraph Operator at Western Union. She met her husband, Othela Gullvert Blanton in 1945 after he was honorably discharged from the Navy. They married on June14,1946 in Rossville Georgia with her sister Ruth , future brother in law, Preston Hubbard & best friend, Carolyn Warf as witnesses. They moved to Nashville & bought a home in East Nashville where she lived until her death. They had 5 children: Richard, Gary, Nancy, Janet & Sharon. They also had 7 grandchildren: Angela, Barbie, Bryan, Shannon, Jeremy, Joshua & Andrew. And & great grandchildren; Spencer, Morgan, Erin, Fiona, Sarah, Cooper & Charleigh Jo. Ernestine was a devout Christian. She attended church at Dalewood United Methodist Church. She loved working in the church, making children's choir robes, worship banners, needlepoint alter kneeler cushions. She also kept the nursery, answered phone on the Prayer Chain, decorated the church & help fix & serve meals. She was a very funny, strong, loving & compassionate lady that left a huge impact on everyone that was lucky enough to know her. She passed away peacefully on March 2,2017 at 3:00A.M. at Alive Hospice in Madison Tennessee with her children by her side.
