Born in Selma, Alabama, Eugene lived a life rooted in dedication, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the world around him. He spent many years as a dedicated employee for the CSX Railroad, from which he eventually retired.
Eugene was a man of many passions, most of them taking place under the open sky. He found true peace outdoors in nature, often capturing its beauty through the lens of his camera. An avid walker, he had a deep love for his daily walking trails and hated to miss a single day on the path. Eugene also possessed a legendary green thumb; he could grow absolutely anything and had a rare gift for bringing any ailing plant back to vibrant life. When he wasn’t outdoors, he was often in the kitchen cooking up something wonderful for those he loved.
He was also a sports fan through and through. As a die-hard Louisville Cardinals fan and a massive follower of Lamar Jackson, Eugene’s schedule revolved around game days—he never missed a single game.
Eugene’s greatest legacy is the family he leaves behind. He is survived by his devoted son, Steven Saulsberry, and his daughter-in-law, Shimada Saulsberry. He was also incredibly proud of his "Grand-dude" Landen Saulsberry, who brought immense joy to his life.
He was reunited in peace with those who passed before him: his mother, Ruby L. Miller; his father, Eugene Bolden Sr.; and his sister, Alphelia Bolden
