

She was preceded in death by her parents, John R. Cheadle, Sr., and Evalina DeBow Casey Cheadle, and by her son, John Cheadle Mitchell.
Evalina was born in Virginia on April 10, 1956, and was raised in Nashville, Tennessee. She graduated from Harpeth Hall School and Vanderbilt University. After spending eight years as a special education teacher with Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, she returned to Nashville School of Law, where she completed her law degree and started her law firm in 1988.
In addition to maintaining a successful legal career until her death, she also served for many years as a proctor for the Tennessee Bar Examination. She was a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and the Nashville Bar Association. Upon the death of her son John Cheadle Mitchell, Evalina started a scholarship in his name at Nashville School of Law.
Ms. Cheadle was a loving sister, mother, aunt and grandmother who cherished time spent with her family and friends. She was an exercise enthusiast and loved walking the beach with the rising sun.
She is survived by her son, Larry Wayne (Catherine) Mitchell, Jr., and two grandsons, Harlan Phillip Mitchell and Dudley John Mitchell. She is also survived by brothers John (Nancy) Cheadle, Jr., and Dudley (Mary) Cheadle, and sister Marian C. Fordyce, as well as numerous nieces.

Evalina's visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Mount Olivet Funeral Home, 1101 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, TN. Following will be burial at 2:00 PM at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
