

Faye Winfrey Shoemake of Nashville, Tennessee, age 87, passed away on April 23, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Eula Winfrey; brother, Phillip Winfrey; and sister, Jean Trauernicht. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, James E. Shoemake; children, Beverly Stewart (Abi), Barbara Shoemake (Jon Seaman), and Matt Shoemake (Dawn); grandsons, Daniel Shoemake, Caleb Shoemake and Michael Watson; one great-granddaughter, Lilly; sister, Rosie Williams (L.S.); and various nieces and nephews Faye was a member of the National Honor Society and a 1948 graduate of Isaac Litton High School. She was a member and instructor for many years in the Smocking Arts Guild of America (SAGA). She created patterns for children’s clothes and taught smocking, French hand sewing and construction techniques for completing children's clothing. She was a member of Inglewood Baptist Church for more than 60 years, was a member of the Faithful Workers class, and sang in the choir for many of those years. She loved to travel and she and her husband traveled to 49 of the 50 states, usually in a camper or van. She loved the wide open western vistas as well as the trickle of a mountain stream in the Great Smoky Mountains. Visitation will be held at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home on Thursday, April 27, 2017, from four to eight o’clock in the evening and again on Friday, April 28, 2017, from ten-thirty to one o’clock, with service to follow at one o’clock at the funeral home.
