
Frances Sain Kristofferson, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at age 92. Daughter of Wade and Eva Patterson Sain, Frances was born in Nashville on March 26, 1923. Growing up in Nashville, she graduated from Peabody Demonstration School and entered Peabody College but left when WWII began. After marrying Helmer Carl Kristofferson, several years were spent in Ohio, Texas, and New York before their return to Nashville in the early 1950s. After her husband’s death in 1952, Frances returned to college and upon graduation spent the next 30 years in the Metro School System as teacher and principal. Teaching Tennessee history, Mrs. Kristofferson spent many hours researching her own family’s early settlement in Middle Tennessee and valued her heritage as a First Family. She held membership in Daughters of the American Revolution and Magna Charta Dames, as well as several other educational and historical societies. She is survived by her daughter, Anne (Rob Roy) Purdy; grandsons, Mac (Kellie) Purdy and Angus (Molly) Purdy; and six great grandchildren: Scarritt, Mackinlay, Baden, Seamus, Finnegan, and Fitz. Visitation with the family will be held from one o’ clock in the afternoon until three on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Christ Presbyterian Church followed by a service in the Chapel at three o’ clock and interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ Presbyterian Church or Academy.
