Gayle was born August 18th, 1945 in Canton, Ohio. Gayle studied English Literature at Malone College and the University of Southern California from 1963-7 & received her Masters' in Special Education and Diagnostic Reading Specialties in 1980. She lived in Nashville's The Hermitage District from 1996 until April 12th, 2022 when she passed away in the home she shared with Ronald A. Gotshall, her husband of 53 years. Gayle and Ron met in Sunday School when they were barely 5 years old and reconnected after their college years, marrying in 1968...
Gayle loved to read and write - and she passed that along to her children as well as the numerous students she taught in Canton-Akron Ohio, Des Moines Iowa and in Mexico - all places she lived with her family during her 77 years of life and travels. Gayle's daughter Meredith E. Eggers (51) and her son R. Joseph Gotshall (47) encourage children everywhere to hug their parents and call home more often!
Gayle enjoyed the spring best - as the Hummingbirds returned from their migrations to visit her feeders and the warmer days prevailed. Anyone wanting to acknowledge Gayle's life should do so by spending a few minutes outside enjoying Spring or by quietly reading from your favorite book. She lived with "Patience and Persistence" (a mantra she repeated regularly from a favorite poem) yet she seized each day "Doing what needed to be done!" She would want you to do the same...

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.HibbettHaileyFH.com for the Gotshall family.
