

George H. Jones passed away October 14 after 94 years as a devoted husband, dedicated father and friend to all he met. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Polly (Goldtrap), four daughters, Sue Perkins (Dave), Brenda Clark (Robert), Debbie Rieke (Louis) and Donna Bailey (Ryan). In addition, Mr. Jones leaves 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
For 45 years, Mr. Jones was the owner of Jones Bros. ACE Hardware. He graduated in 1941, the first graduating class of North High School. During World War II, he served with the Third Armored Division in Europe and received numerous medals including five bronze stars and the Purple Heart. His many interests, hobbies and love of travel kept him vibrant and active throughout his life. He was a member of the Middle Tennessee Gem and Mineral Society, St. Thomas Rehab and North High Alumni Association where he maintained friendships even when he was no longer able to participate. His greatest love and passion was his Christian faith and involvement in church activities at the Bordeaux and Crieve Hall Churches of Christ.
Mr. Jones, a native Nashvillian, was the son of Fred K. and Marguerite Jones and brother to Louise Resha and Paul, Glen and Roy Jones.
Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, October 18, 2014, eleven o’clock in the morning at Crieve Hall Church of Christ, 4806 Trousdale Drive Nashville, TN. Visitation with family and friends will be on Friday, October 17 from four o’clock until seven o’clock at Crieve Hall and Saturday from nine o’clock in the morning until the service time of eleven at the church.
