George Pierce Morris Jr.

George Pierce Morris, Jr. died at age 100 on January 8th, 2015 in Brentwood, Tennessee. Visitation will be held at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 14th from one o'clock in the afternoon until service time at two-thirty. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park. He was born on November 22, 1914 in Birmingham, Alabama. He is preceded in passing by his father, George Pierce Morris; mother, Iola Nations Morris; brother, Robert Morris; son, George Pierce Morris III; wife, Mary Nell Morris; grandson, John Raymond Neal, Jr.; and great-grandson, Silas John Hays. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Faye Morris of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and Anne Morris Harris (Scott) of Lynnville, Tennessee. He graduated from Birmingham Southern and The University of Alabama. He was the former chief financial officer of Olan Mills Studios, president of the Kiwanis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee, owner of the Morris Rent All Centers in Tennessee, president of the American Rental Association and the Sertoma Club in Nashville, Tennessee. A lifelong member of the Methodist church, he attended Brentwood United Methodist Church in later years. He is also survived by grandchildren, Clayton Morris Neal (Tina), Brett Alexander Neal (Jennifer), Tyrone Kenneth Neal, Grace Anne Morris, Mark Hanna Hays IV (Sarah), John Milburn Hays (Virginia), David Edward Hays (Robin); and great-grandchildren, Ashley Anne Marie Neal, John Raymond Neal II, Clayton Morris Neal, Jr., William Philip Hays, Julian Pierce Hays and Noah Andrew Hays. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in his name to the Make A Wish Foundation.
