

Harold Sigurd Runsvold Jr. was born on June 25, 1935 in San Diego, California and passed into the arms of the Lord on July 8, 2022 in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Lucille Rusvold and nephew Devin F. Brown.
Mr. Runsvold was raised in Claremont, California where he attended elementary and high school. After high school graduation, where he was Student Body President, he attended Pomona College with a major in Political Science. Upon graduation from Pomona College he earned his J.D. degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
In 1963 he entered the insurance risk management business. This was an occupation he ultimately would be involved in for over twenty-five years. Over the course of his career he was affiliated with Allstate and Crawford and Company.
In 1999 Harold joined the Tennessee State government. This work involved advocating for people subject to the Tenn-Care Program. Many of the recipients in this program were nursing home residents. He retired from the state after nine years of service. He was a registered lobbyist in Vermont with efforts concentrated on services for individuals with disabilities. He also was a lobbyist in Tennessee primarily for the AARP organization and their legislative pursuits.
Mr. Runsvold served in the United States Naval Reserve as a yeoman third class petty officer. He was a communicant at Calvary United Methodist Church in Nashville, Tennessee. He was a participant in the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation in Plymouth, Vermont.
As a dedicated husband and father to wife Trish and son Philip, he often brought Philip to California to visit his extended family. As a parent of a child with special needs, Harold advocated for services and educational opportunities that would benefit his son, Philip.
Harold Runsvold, Jr. was a man of service to his church, the special needs community and served the elderly through his role as a lobbyist for AARP. He will be missed by his family, church and community. He leaves his wife Trish, son Philip, brothers Charles (Pat), Tom (Karen), sister Christine Mizuno (Robert) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from one thirty in the afternoon until three o'clcok in the afternoon on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at three o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, July 15, 2022 in Dignity Hall at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Progress, Inc., the organization that aids persons with special needs, would be greatly appreciated.
