
HOWELL, Hazel Ruth Reid – of Nashville, born on the 9th of October 1916 in Shelbyville, TN to Albert Newton and Lily Ann Rogers Reid. Preceded in death by her infant twin sister, Virginia Francis Reid; and husband of 47 years, Everett Leo Howell. Survived by daughters, Rose Mary (Michael, deceased) Michals of Cleveland, OH; Leona Ann (Charles) Ingram of Nashville, TN; grandsons, James Daniel Geldreich of Orlando, FL; Richard Lloyd Willis of San Antonio, TX; and granddaughter, Michaela Ruth (Matt) Stevenson of Ft. Worth, TX; two great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons, and two great-great-grandsons. A special thank you to her caregivers at NHC Franklin and Caris. Mrs. Howell was a long standing member of the Meridian Street Methodist Church and a current member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Her career spanned from Harvey’s Department Store and Cain Sloan as a Charles of the Ritz and Estee Lauder representative to working at Miller’s Hospital where she retired after ten years as receptionist and office assistant. She enjoyed her home, her family, her pets, and feeding and watching the birds in her front yard. Her strength and fortitude was an inspiration to her family and all who knew her. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall on Saturday, the 10th of May 2014 at ten o’clock in the morning. Family will gather with friends for a time of remembrance and visitation on Friday evening from five o’clock until seven o’clock at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and the Humane Society.
