

Ivey Mae Hale Lewis of Nashville, Tennessee, age 94, passed peacefully from this life on the evening of January 16, 2016. Born June 10, 1921 in Long Island, VA, she attended Virginia State College for Teachers and graduated from Longwood College. Her 40-year career as an educator began in Altavista, Virginia, and continued as she moved to Nashville in 1954 with her husband, Zack Edward Lewis, Jr. (deceased). She was a teacher at Woodbine, Glendale, and Crieve Hall Elementary Schools. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Second Presbyterian Church since 1954. She is survived by her son, Trey Lewis (Zack Edward III) and his wife Beth; and her sister, Lina Hale Ore, age 96, of Lynchburg, VA now residing in Nashville at McKendree Village. Family and friends will gather for visitation at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 12, 2106 from four to eight o’clock in the evening. A Celebration of Life service officiated by the Rev. Dr. Mary Louise McCullough and the Rev. Dr. Joel Emerson will be held at the Second Presbyterian Church at eleven o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, January 20, 2016. Entombment to take place at Woodlawn’s Cross Mausoleum.
