J. R. Bailey, Jr. age 81, joined our Lord on the 25th day of October, 2013. He was a native of McMinnville and a resident of Nashville. He was the son of late J.R. Bailey, Sr. and Beulah Lee Jones and was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers. Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Wilma Jean Morgan, daughter Karen Jean, and brother Bob. A Korean War veteran, he served from 1954-56 as a combat instructor and member of the Post Honor Guard. A member of the Church of Christ, he served as deacon of the Charlotte Avenue congregation for over 30 years and currently of the Vultee congregation. He had a successful career with Allstate Insurance where he won many awards as a top-selling Senior Agent. J.R. was instrumental in working with former Tennessee governor Ned McWherter in the formation of New Horizons, a center allowing handicapped persons to achieve gainful employment. A funeral service will be held at eleven-thirty in the morning on Monday, the 28th of October, 2013 in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall with visitation held from ten o’clock in the morning until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable contributions be sent to New Horizons Corporation or to the Church of Christ Disaster Relief.
