

Jack Baker Diehl, Jr. - age 89 of Nashville, died Wednesday February 16, 2011. Proceeded in death by parents Jack B. Diehl, Sr. and Pearl Gibson Diehl; brother Kenneth Diehl and wife Jean S. Diehl. Survived by sons Thomas B. (Jan) Diehl, Howard M. Diehl and Allen G. (Mary) Diehl; grandchildren Hanley B. Diehl, Luke (Rachel) Diehl, Anna Diehl; step-grandchildren Jessica Towery and Aaron Thomason; great grandchild Chase A. Diehl; nephews Kenny Diehl and Robert Diehl. A 1942 graduate of West End High School to which he was most dedicated. He was president of the Senior Class and captain of the football team. He also attended Tennessee Tech University. While attending Tenn. Tech he was called to serve his country in the Navel Air Corps as a radio operator and waist gunner aboard amphibious plane. After the war, Jack completed his education at Tenn. Tech graduating with a BS degree in Science. He was employed many years by Sears Roebuck; a founding member of Hillwood Presbyterian Church serving as Elder, Deacon and Trustee. He was a devoted, loving member of the church. Jack was a former member of West Nashville Kiwanis Club and served as president 1991 to 1992. He was an avid golfer, football fan and enthusiastic member of West End High School “lunch bunch”. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and caregivers of Richland Place and Grandmother’s Wish. Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 Sunday afternoon at Hillwood Presbyterian Church 6220 Hickory Valley Rd with Dr. Rev. Richard Rouquie officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 - 4:00. Pallbearers will be Kenny Diehl, Robert Diehl, Hanley Diehl, Luke Diehl, Aaron Thomason and Walter Crawford. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hillwood Presbyterian Church
