After graduating from East High School, Jim enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at McGuire Air Force Base in Trenton, NJ. Upon completing his studies at the University of Tennessee Dental School, he began his 35-year dental practice in Donelson. After retiring, Jim dedicated much of his time to medical mission trips to Haiti, which were very dear to his heart.
Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Suzanne Omohundro Cantrell; daughters, Carol Cantrell (Vince Venturino) and Jenny Cantrell Robinson (Mike Robinson); and son, Chris Cantrell. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill, and his sister Becky.
Jim had a passion for golfing with friends and spending time at Center Hill Lake.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
