James Robert Pigg

James Robert Pigg (74), of Lexington, KY, passed away on October 13, 2023 after a 10 year journey with Dementia. Jim, also known as Robbie to some, was born in Lexington, KY to Sammie and Alma Pigg. After the untimely passing of his mother, he was raised by his grandparents, Babe and Ida Pigg of Seco, KY. After graduating from Fleming-Neon High School, he attended Xavier University, while also working at Proctor and Gamble. He went on to attend the University of Kentucky College of Medicine where he was able to continue his passion of caring for people. Upon completion of medical school, he began his residency in Family Practice. It was during this time, he discovered that his true love of medicine would be Obstetrics and Gynecology. He went on to practice Obstetrics and Gynecology for the next 30 years. The babies he had the privilege to deliver would each receive a onesie at birth that said, “Delivered by the Pork, not the Stork.”

Jim is preceded in death by Babe and Ida Pigg, Alma Bryant and Sammie Pigg and wife, Linda Ann Wyatt Pigg.

Jim, the OG of “Girl Dads,” is survived by his 3 daughters, Renée (Michael) Stany, Robin (John) Rankin and Rebecca (Michael) Post as well as 6 grandchildren and 5 granddogs. He also leaves behind “Mom” Betty Pigg, brothers, Sammie (Judy) Pigg and Stevie (Carla) Pigg and sisters Betty Cheryl (Terry) Sitze and Lisa (Brian) Gahwyler as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jim loved playing the piano, anything UK, collecting ALL the things, holidays (especially Christmas), playing (and winning) games, and being with his family. Although he eventually lost the exact words to describe what he did, when asked what he used to do for a living, he would simply say, “I helped people.” And that he did until he could do no more.

A graveside service will be held for close family members in Jenkins, Kentucky at the Wyatt Family Cemetery.
