Jerry was a proud graduate of Old Antioch High School, class of 1977. He served in the military as a Sergeant before working as a truck driver and spending the last 30 years of his career as an appliance repairman for Sears, where he retired. Jerry took great pride in his work, often going above and beyond to ensure his customers received the highest quality service. His strong sense of fairness and generosity made a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Throughout his life, Jerry had a deep love and appreciation for nature, music, photography, scuba diving, and marksmanship. His passion for these interests was matched only by his sharp memory and quick learning abilities. Jerry lived fully in the moment, always seeking adventure and embracing life as if each day were his last. He was especially caring toward those with disabilities, even learning sign language as a teen to communicate with a deaf student.
As a son, Jerry devoted himself to caring for his mother, who struggled with Alzheimer's. His level of support and compassion for her care was unmatched, and his commitment to ensuring her well-being was evident in every aspect of his life.
Jerry’s greatest pride and joy in the early years was his son Jeremy Glen Odom. Jerry's struggle with mental health, removed his ability to be fully be present for Jeremy and his five grandchildren. Despite personal struggles with mental health, Jerry’s deep love for his family remained a constant, and he was always protective, generous, and fiercely loyal. Although his life was often affected by paranoia and anxiety, Jerry found comfort and trust in his relationship with his twin brother Terry, despite the ups and downs of their bond.
Jerry's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched with his kindness, strength, and spirit.
